We have personally used this method for many years with kids. You can also write the scripture on a chalk board and let the kids take turns erasing a word after they repeated the verse. If they correctly quoted the verse with the missing words, they get the opportunity of erasing the next word of their choice and choosing the next person to quote the verse with the missing words. Memorizing just became fun and exciting! Use as many steps as it takes..depending on how long the verse is.
